Indeed. With Bob and Leam noticeably absent nobody has stepped up to
coordinate the meetings.
I propose changing this month's meeting to Saturday September 12th. I also
propose having the meeting at Joseph-Beth booksellers at Southpark Mall. All
our previous meetings this year have been in far South-East Charlotte (and
beyond) where there was nothing of interest to me nearby. Southpark also
serves as a public transit hub, which is convenient for those who prefer
alternatives to driving. Joseph-Beth also offers free WiFi. We can still
keep the usual start time of 10am.

As for a meeting topic, I'd like us to talk about open-source version
control systems. We had an interesting discussion on the list a few months
ago on Subversion vs. Git. My opinion at the time was that only large
development teams would benefit from distributed version control systems
(DVCS), but now I see that many small software projects (especially
open-source ones) can benefit from DVCS. I also noticed that there are a
growing number of options for Git hosting (from GitHub to paid hosting)
which means a lot less work to get started with Git.

As part of this topic, I'd also appreciate it if someone could present a
"Trac for Dummies" primer. I have a GeekISP account that includes
Subversion/Trac and would be interested in using it to collaborate with some
other Web developers in the local area for some pet projects. However I've
never set up Trac before and I don't want to spend a lot of time learning
how to be a Trac admin.

Alternative suggestions for time, place, and topic are welcome; however the
first person to object becomes the meeting coordinator for this month :-).
If nobody responds either positively or negatively to my proposal, consider
this month's meeting cancelled (and the group dead).
