I am currently using Player/Stage software for some development. It is
fully supported on Debian based platforms for sure. The software can be
used to gather data from sensors on a robotic platform via a TCP/IP network
and also provides some simulation tools for the sensors. The idea is to
simulate a design by adding virtual sensors in the software then build the
system after you work out the algorithms. It's comparable to Microsoft
Robotics Studio in this regard. I am not very experienced in the software,
but would like to open up a discussion to inform group members of the tools
available to them.

Thanks,
Tom
