Kevin,
I have the same issue with TW RoadRunner. I encountered it in two
different apartments with different types of modems. It seems that TW
has a very flaky connection and they don't care. Tech support can't help
(as expected) and nobody knows what's going on. I found different types
of disconnect for my modem, which is connected via RJ45 to my server:
- - The modem is not reachable anymore (even the modem doesn't like TW)
- - The DHCP server of TW is not reachable anymore
- - The "internet" is not reachable anymore
I wrote a small bash script and start it every minute with cron. It is
simply checking for these three cases. If the connection goes down the
script restarts the network and the firewall and also informs me by
mail. I have a pretty good trail now how often TW goes down. And you're
right, it seems random. Although I had some days were I could not get a
connection for hours :(. My conclusion out of this: TW sucks... Is there
any reliable provider in this country?
cu hps
