[Charlug] CharLUG - 2009 organizational meeting...01/03/09

Hi gang,

Just a brief update.

Spoke with the owners of the Coffee Garden, and they will provide a reserved
table or two. (long tables) There is Wifi. Weather permitting we can even
set up outside.. Pizza next door. Subs & beer nearby. Chinese, MacDonalds,&
Lebanese food also....

*Speaker roster*  If we go with monthly meetings, we need 11 speakers for
'09. I have sent requests out to Richard Hipp (SQLite) and
Kevin Jones(FLPC). Kevin's replied back & said he is available to speak.

I personally think CharLUG has enough speakers to fill out the rest of 2009
from within our ranks. Think about it. Let us all know if you are interested
in speaking during an '09 meeting.

*Meeting location(s)*  I propose holding the meetings in different locations
each time we meet. Tying ourselves to one location immediately reduces the
number of attendees. Things like bus routes, time of day, and ride sharing
should be discussed on 01/03.

I tell my customers that GNU/Linux, and for that matter, Open Software in
general, has moved beyond the "experts only" stage. We ought to be as
dynamic as the software we use. Let's get some good meetings going in
2009...
