On June 4, 2007 CharLUG received confirmation that our Articles of Incorporation were filed at the N.C. Secretary of State's office. As of that date, CharLUG is officially a nonprofit corporation registered in North Carolina. A PDF format version of the true copy of our Articles of Incorporation can be found in the CharLUG Documents section of this website. The culminates several years of effort and is the first big step toward CharLUG obtaining the nonprofit tax-exempt status we have been seeking. It also means that we will have to operate CharLUG alittle more formally from this point onward. Our purpose and goals remain the same...to educate the public about Linux and Open Source Software. To this end we will contine to provide a forum for everyone interested in Linux and F/OSS, beginners, experienced users and professionals alike. The CharLUG Forums and the CharLUG Mailing Lists will continue to be common gathering places for members. We continue to encourage your participation in the User Group regardless of your level of experience with Linux and F/OSS. CharLUG meetings will remain open to both members and visitors at all levels. All you need to participate is curiosity or interest in Linux and/or F/OSS and a desire to mingle with others of a like mind. We encourage newbies and experienced Linux users to attend meetings to get to know each other and learn about the multitude of ways Linux and F/OSS are used by home, SOHO and major companies throughout the world. We will continue meeting on both the first Saturday and the third Tuesday of each month. Come visit with us! Joe |
